Chennai Super Kings for the third game in a row failed to play their own game well. Dwayne Bravo's heroics were not enough this time around. A target of 124 can play havoc when it comes to methods to be adopted and Sunil Narine compounded CSK's misery with a spell of 4-0-8-3. The 12*run win handed ad & Tobago their t win and kept their chances alive in the Champions League T20.
Full marks to S. Badree and Kevin Cooper for displaying exemplary control with the ball to restrict the usually free flowing Chennai top-order. MS Dhoni's 22-ball struggle was a case in point. The failure of Suresh Raina, M.
Vijay and Mike Hussey and the run out of S. Badrinath at a crucial juncture ensured T&T always had their nose in front.
Earlier Cooper's whirlwind 28 (10b, 1x4, 3x6) helped T &T take the score past 120. Cooper picking the length and slower delivery early from Bollinger with finesse ensured his team had something to bowl at. The last five overs produced 49 runs that made all the difference in the end. It was not easy for the batsmen to come to terms with the conditions.
Openers Lendl Simmons and Willaim Perkins got their game plan right by keeping wickets intact but when it came to forcing the pace, the middle order went short on firepower. Dhoni opened with Doug Bollinger and Albie Morkel and the pacers did a fine job of keeping the score down to 28 during powerplay. R.Ashwin went for 12 in his first over and Shadab Jakati was swept for a huge six by Perkins. At a time when the innings was gaining momentum, Perkins fell to a smart catch by S.Badrinath at point. T&T never found another batsman who could maintain momentum for the next seven overs, luckily Cooper arrived.
