After logging into the Forum website, one finds on the right handside of the webpage that opens up in the IE browser, an intrusive video display. This appears to have started rather recently, but I wish it could be blocked. I can’t silence the video, especially when it starts playing the commercial, although subsequent video play, mostly gossipy and purportedly ‘entertaining’/‘enlightening’ about the personal lives of movie stars, can be paused, if not outright blocked. And you have to do this procedure everytime you try to read a new posting.
Can someone tell me how to block this video? It is so distracting, to say the least. I don’t mind the rest of the section below the ‘Facebook’ section, since I can conveniently ignore them, but this top section video play is highly intrusive. Help.
I realise that the website needs ad money to keep running, but members need a 'do not bother me' option, much like the 'do not call' option for the phones or the ADBLOCK option in Firefox browser.
See whether you have "Block pop-up windows" option in your preferences settings, or properties section of your browser. If this option "Block pop-up windows" is selected you might get rid of this nuisance. In fact it does not happen in my browser. I use Apples' Safari as my browser.

Yes, I have the "Block popup windows' option enabled, but this video does not appear to belong to this category.

Ramani Sir,
Can you please let me know what this commercial is about? It don't get it when I start Chennai forum. So there must be a reason why it does not intrude me?
Thanks, Praveen! I note this morning that the volume of the sound in the commercial video ad is muted by default. Mercifully, I can now remove the cotton-ear-plugs while surfing 'namma chennai'.

@praveen
Looks like the video muting has been removed! Score 1 for crass commercialism?

Hi Praveen,
I repeat what Ramani said sometime ago and today. I travelled to London last evening from Germany. When I logged into Chennai forum I get this annoying commercial "SRK to attend Lady Gaga show" repeatedly starting up. I reduce the sound but then I cannot talk to any one using Skype because no one can hear what I am talking.
I thought once you said it was only intended for India. I will be here in London for the next four weeks. Does it mean that I have log out of Chennai forum every time I want to use Skype?
Its really annoying when I sit at Starbuck coffee use WiFi and this starts up and all the people around me start staring at me. Its really not funny.
Is there no different way to this?
