Twitter is all about hot trends, flash news, and it toppled three governments, but if the tweeple decide to have some fun, nothing can stop them.

For the last two days the hottest trend on Twitter was Aiyyo!, the South Indian word which the Urban Dictionary defines as ‘an exclamation when something goes wrong (or) when you are misunderstood”.

In two days more than 50 million tweets were posted with the aiyyo hashtag, twitter statistics website said. The tweeple across the country had a great time celebrating India’s first victory down under.

Many were awestruck when the word aiyyo was seen in the trending list.

Gaurav Rokade tweeted “#aiyyo is trending , It means when I was asleep south Indians took over Twitter :\”. That explained it all and the south Indians were celebrating their unique exclamatory expression They also explained the meaning to others. Krishalini explained, #aiyyo is what a South Indian parent would say after coming to know about his daughter’s affair.

India’s victory was also celebrated with the same hashtag. The Tweeple even explained the reason for the victory with “Dhoni today morning: #Aiyyo tomorrow is the IPL auction. all team mates : #Aiyyo , then, Today we will perform well.

For those who missed the trend, Twitterati-the twitter elites didn’t forget to add Rajnikanth to the trend. Rajnikant threw a grenade and 500 people died, 5 seconds later, the grenade exploded.aiyyo!” Many didn’t understand the word ‘aiyyo’ and asked why it was trending in Mumbai and Bangalore. The answer was simple “A E #Aiyyo U”.

It didn’t take long after that for all of India to start tweeting Aiyyo!! and soon it was made a global trend. “#Aiyyo #Sahara withdraws sponsorship of Team #India, Pune #BCCI kya karega”
