Have you come across people who are poor but happy and don’t beg to live their lives? Yes there are such people. It was not long ago that I was in Delhi in a state managed large Hotel. One day I went to a public office in Haryana to get a document with my in laws.
There were many rows of tables under a roof and many clerks and people who looked like lawyers sat there doing their daily business. The place was fairly crowded. I noticed something that was rather unusual to me because I have never been there before.
There were three boys busy doing a lucrative business. Repairing broken slippers, shoes and polishing them was their business. At first I took photos from a distance and then got closer. Once they knew that I was taking photos they readily posed for me with smiling faces.
Photos of them being taken may have been a very rare thing for them too because I soon had onlookers. In a country like India where there is so much poverty and many taking to begging as a profession I could not help stopping to admire the Entrepreneurship of these three boys who looked like brothers.
When I walked up to the youngest and stroked his head in admiration my in laws pulled my hand away as if I had touched a serpent. Later they told me I was not supposed to touch them. To this day I do not understand why or ever cared to know.
I know of thousands of people have many things these three boys can never ever dream of but they were blessed with happiness in whatever they had or did. The photos are ample proof of these brothers in business. Take a look.
