It is finally confirmed that Deepika is Superstar Rajini's jodi in the much awaited 3D film directed by Soundarya Deepika will sizzle alongside the six-pack Superstar.

Deepika Padukone learnt that there is many a slip between the cup and the lip the hard way. But then, that’s what show biz is all about. The hot Bollywood babe was all ready to work opposite superstar, Rajnikanth in a period flick, Rana. The latter was playing a triple role and the venture was even launched amid much fanfare in Chennai last April at the A.V.M. Studios. In fact, even the shooting had commenced at a palatial 17 th century palace set where Rajnikanth and Deepika shot a song.

However, as fate would have it, Rajnikanth took ill the very day his magnum opus went to the sets. He was hospitalized for bronchitis and high fever and later had to be shifted to Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital.

We are told that he was treated for acute renal problems. He returned to the city when he recovered, however, the filming of Rana was uncertain. Then one day out of the blue, Soundarya announced that her dad and Enthiran star’s next film, Kochadaiyaan, was ready for the sets and that she was excited about directing her father. Apparently, she also officially stated that the film would be produced under her banner, Ocher Picture Productions and Eros International. In addition, A. R. Rahman will be handling the music, while Rajiv Menon would take control of the camera and the whole project would be supervised by ace filmmaker, K. S. Ravikumar.

After several names from Bollywood were tossed around for the coveted role, including Vidya Balan and Katrina Kaif, it finally came back to Deepika Padukone .

Soundarya confirmed that they have signed Deepika on once again and that she has been brought on board to share screen space with Rajinikanth in Kochadaiyaan.

This is the first 3D Indian film to be shot in performance capturing motion technology.

Deepika is busy with a couple of projects in Hindi but she is expected to adjust her dates to accommodate for Kochadaiyaan.
