Thread: Navarathiri Salangai Programme (Sruthilaya Vidyalaya)

Sruthilaya Vidyalaya students provided Music and Bharathanatyam Dance performances in Arulmigu Maakaliamman Temple, R-21, Anna Nagar on 29^th September and 30^th September 2011 in relation with the Navaratri festival, which is one of the most important hindu festival dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga.

Students S. Swetha, S. Sai Amritha Varshini, B. Ashwini Balaji, V. Rithika & S. Prerana who did their salangai pooja in “Twenty First Year Salangai Programme of Sruthilaya Vidyalaya” provided dance performances. More than 30 students of the school provided various dance performances highlighting different forms of Shakthi/Devi as part of worship and Devotional, Classical and Semi-classical music performances provided by the students was well appreciated by the public.

Sruthilaya Vidyalaya has been continuously providing Navaratri special programmes in this temple for the past twenty years.

SRUTHILAYA VIDYALAYA

1. Ashtavadhani Smt. Parvathy Balasubramanian runs an institution called “ SRUTHILAYA VIDYALAYA” at Anna Nagar for the past 22 years. The institution presently functions at Anna Nagar, Kilpauk and Nandambakkam inculcating both Bharathanatyam and Vocal. More over, the institution focuses on providing social awareness through this art form.
2. Smt. Parvathy Balasubramanian, Principal, has trained more than 2000 students so far in the field of Carnatic Music and Bharthanatyam
3. Sruthilaya Vidyalaya has performed Salangai Pooja for more than 800 students and various Arangetram performances as well
4. Sruthilaya Vidyalaya students have participated in various Music and Dance events, sabha programmes and temple functions and Festivals
5. Sruthilaya Vidyalaya was Instrumental in providing students excellent platform to showcase their talents in Music and Bharathanatyam through various progammes both in India and abroad, including Audio (AIR) & Television (Sun TV, Jaya TV, Raj TV, DD Podhigai ,WIN TV ) medias.
6. Sruthilaya Vidayalaya has undertaken to provide social awareness in the areas of *Oil Conservation* Child Labour*Air & Water Pollution prevention* Rain Water Harvesting* RICE varieties* Road Safety* Use of Helmet* AIDS awareness * Blood and Eye Donation * Tree Planting* Aforestation* Arresting Global Warming* Waste to Wealth .
7. Sruthilaya Vidyalaya provides various Awards to students in Music & Dance, viz.Yuva Nrithya Jothi Award, Valarum Isai Kaliangar Award, etc.etc.
