Koraput, August 25 (ANI): Security forces and Maoists exchanged fire in Koraput district of Orissa on Wednesday. Soumendra Priyadarshi, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Koraput s Southern Range, said around 15 Maoists opened fire on security forces when they were patrolling the area. The gun battle continued for about 30 minutes. Taking advantage of poor visibility inside the dense forest, the Maoists fled the spot.Priyadarshi also said that the Maoists belonged to the Core Regional Committee that was involved in militant activities on the border of Orissa and Andhra Pradesh.
